Synopsis of Lionheart (1991)

When Foreign Legion soldier Lyon Gaultier (Jean-Claude Van Damme) learns his brother has been murdered in Los Angeles, he deserts his post and crosses the Atlantic illegally to help his widowed sister-in-law and niece. Stranded and broke, Lyon enters the world of underground street fighting to earn money, quickly rising through brutal bare-knuckle tournaments that pit him against men twice his size.

Haunted by guilt and hunted by Legion agents sent to retrieve him, Lyon must fight not only for survival but for family and redemption. Lionheart combines Van Damme's signature athleticism with unexpected heart, crafting a gritty, emotional tale of loyalty and perseverance that helped define the golden era of 1990s martial-arts cinema.
