According to Variety, things are moving along for the "Beverly Hills Cop 4" film.  Paramount has announced that Eddie Murphy has signed on to reprise his role as detective Axel Foley, and Brett Ratner is said to be negotiating to direct the film. 

Also on the roster is producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. No writer has been hired as of yet, but one will be hired shortly.

The franchise grossed $712.9 million worldwide. 

A summer 2010 release is scheduled for the for the film.
