Johnny Depp will star in an adaptation of "Rex Mundi", a series of graphic novels by Arvid Nelson and Eric Johnson.

Rex Mundi, translated "King Of The World" is set in alternate reality of the year 1933 where the world is dominated by the catholic church much as it was during the Inquisition.

Depp will star as an Indiana Jones-ish character uncovering mystery and adventure set in a film noir backdrop. The film will be adapted by Jim Uhls whos other credits include "Fight Club"

Johnny Depp's latest smash hit, Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest comes to DVD on December 5th.
