It has been announced that Len Wiseman, director of "Live Free or Die Hard" and the "Underworld" Series, will be directing the upcoming remake of "John Carpentar's Escape from New York".

The movie is set in futuristic Manhattan, which has been turned into a maximum security prison, and features the character Snake Plissken, a convict and war hero hired to save the President of the United States after his plane is crashed by terrorists.

The film is being written by Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) and will be produced by Ori Marmur, Ron Halpern, and Frederic Sichler, all of whom work on the original. The movies will also be directed by John Carpenter, the original director.
