These films will take place, chronologically, before the storyline of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. they will follow Bilbo Baggins on his adventures as he searches for treasures. We will see him encounter many of the same creatures as in "Lord of the Rings", such as dwarves, elves and of course, Gandalf the Grey.
Martin Freeman will be portraying Bilbo Baggins and Ian McKellan will be reprising his role as Gandalf. Also joining the cast will be Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis, all of whom will be also be reprising their roles.
Filming is underway in New Zealand.
