Tom Hanks to Play Walt Disney in Saving Mr. Banks
Walt Disney Picture have reportedly talked to Tom Hanks regarding playing the role of Walt Disney in Disneys "Saving Mr.Banks", the true life story of how over a fourteen year period Walt Disney pursued and courted P.L.Travers the Australian author of the Mary Poppins books.

Alongside Hanks would be Emma Thompson playing the role of Travers herself, while John Lee Hancock would head the project based on a script written by Kelly Marcel and although Disney declined to comment on the story, sources at Variety who broke it say the talks have taken place.

Travers's series of books written about the mystical English nanny were published between 1934 and 1988, but it was in 1964 that Disney transformed the stories into the all-time classic musical starring Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins alongside Dick Van Dyke and David Tomlinson with the songs in the film written by the legendary Sherman Brothers.
