"Barbarella", the 1968 film starring a young Jane Fonda, will be making its way to the small screen. The series is being developed by Gaumont International Television and producer Martha De Laurentiis. Nicolas Refn will direct.
The film, which was based on a sci-fi novel by Jean-Claude Forest, is a cult classic and features Fonda trying to stop an evil weapons inventor. GIT CEO Katie O'Connell said, "We are thrilled to have secured the rights from the Forest estate and are thrilled to be pairing the bold visceral style of Nicolas Refn with the pop culture icon Barbarella."
Gaumont International Television will also be producing a "Hannibal" series as well as series, "Hemlock Grove", starring Famke Janssen.
