Some Heroes fans may be wondering why some characters will not be returning for the upcoming series, Heroes Reborn. Show creator, Tim Kring, spoke about the subject recently at the TCA Summer Press Tour.
He said that mindreader Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis) and Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) will all be returning, but that Claire (Hayden Panettierre), Sylar (Zachary Quinto) and Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) won't be, due to scheduling issues. "they didn't have availability, it was out of our control," said Kring. The returning characters will be featured every few episodes.
The show takes place five years after the original, after all the heroes are now "out" about their powers. Kring said, "The show was designed to be elastic in its premiere. I always saw it as a show that could repopulate itself." He went on to say that the 13 episode season allows them "to do an aggressive storytelling. When you have an endless road ahead of you, no matter how hard you try, you have to hold back things. The art of the stall. But with aggressive storytelling, we're putting 50 lbs. in a 10 lb. bag."
Heroes Reborn premiers on September 24 at 8pm with a 2 hour episode.
