"Wayward Pines" has been renewed for a second season by Fox. The show has been greenlit for 10 episodes for their Summer of 2016 premier.
David Madden, president of Fox Broadcasting Company said, "'Wayward Pines' was a huge hit for us this past summer. We were absolutely blown away by the mysterious and surprising world that Night and his team created, and the twisting-and-turning storytelling that drew viewers in from day one. Season Two is going to take the suspense, the vision of the future and the haunting character drama to whole new levels, and we can't wait for our fans to continue that ride next year."
Chad Hodge, who was the series creator, will not be returning for the new season, but exec producer M. Night Shyamalan will be back.
The show was originally aired as an event series, which usually remains a one time project. However, the unexpected success of the show prompted the powers that be to consider a second season.
Season 2 will be picking up where the first left off, after the death of several main characters and Wayward Pines in the midst of a rebellion.
