Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing everyone's favorite spy, James Bond, died today. He was 89.
Moore had been suffering from cancer for a short period of time. His children released a statement saying, "Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people."
They went on to say, "With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated".
Moore first portrayed James Bond in 1973's Live and Let Die and reprised his role in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974); The Spy Who Loved Me (1977); Moonraker (1979); For Your Eyes Only (1981); Octopussy (1983); and A View to a Kill (1985). He remains the longest running Bond actor.
Moore leaves behind his three children Deborah, Christian, and Geoffrey.
