Netflix will be streaming Ratched, which will star Sarah Paulson as Nurse Ratched from the classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The film will be an origin story and will feature a younger Ratched. 

The story will begin in 1947 and follow Ratched throughout her career as a nurse (and murderer).

The Ryan Murphy series will be executive produced by Michael Douglas, Murphy, Aleen Keshishian, Margaret Riley and Jacob Epstein of Lighthouse Management & Media, and Evan Romansky. Paulson will be a producer alongside Paul Zaentz.

They have landed an 18-episode straight to series order from Netflix after what is being reported as a bidding war between Netflix, Hulu and Apple.

Douglas and Paul Zaentz's late uncle, Saul Zaentz, produced the original film in 1976.
