David Cassidy, best known for his role of Keith Partridge on "The Partridge Family", has died. He was 67.
Cassidy's publicist released a statement saying, "On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy. David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years."
The actor/musician was in the hospital after suffering from organ failure and also suffered from a dementia diagnosis that was made just this year.
Cassidy rose to fame with the iconic "Partridge Family" series which also starred his real-life stepmother Shirley Jones, Susan Dey, Danny Bonaduce, Suzanne Crough and Dave Madden. He became a musical success with the release of "I Think I Love You" and "Cherish" and continued this aspect of his career for the rest of his life.
But times haven't always been good for Cassidy. Besides his recent diagnosis and illness, he dealt with alcoholism and filed for bankruptcy in 2015.
Cassidy is survived by daughter Katie Cassidy, son Beau Cassidy, stepmother Shirley Jones and brothers Shaun, Patrick, and Ryan.
