YouTube has ordered a 10-episode series titled On Becoming A God In Central Florida, which will star Kirsten Dunst. The show will air on YouTube Premium.
The series was the brainchild of the late Suzanne Patmore Gibbs from TriStar, known for her female based material and was originally in development for AMC.
Patmore Gibbs spoke to Deadline before her death about the project, saying, "In Krystal Gill, Funke and Lutsky have created a truly delicious, sometimes diabolical female character - a dirt poor, very fierce young woman who is relentless in her pursuit of the American dream inside of an Amway-like company. There is something incredibly compelling, heartbreaking and absurd about both she and the lost souls these multi-level marketing companies prey on, who look to find community, respect and a sense of self in all the wrong places."
Dunst will be executive producing alongside Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky (who wrote the script), Yorgos Lanthimos, showrunner Esta Spalding, Charlie McDowell, who will direct the series, and Clooney and Grant Heslov through Smokehouse Pictures.
The series will revolve around Dunst's character, who lives in Central Florida and who works her way up through the ranks a pyramid scheme company. It is set to premiere in 2019.
