The Bandit, Burt Reynolds, Takes His Final Ride

The actor had varied roles throughout his career beginning in the 1950s, but it was his role in "Deliverance" in 1972 that launched his career. He was quoted as saying it was his best film.
The Georgia native's career blossomed, and he soon became a Hollywood sex symbol, even doing a nude photo shoot for Cosmopolitan magazine, a move he regretted later in life and even felt stood in the way of "Deliverance" earning an Oscar. However, Reynolds' comedic roles in films like "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Cannonball Run" showed his charisma that fans wound up falling in love with. He earned an Oscar nomination in 1998 for his role in "Boogie Nights", a film that he admittedly disliked.
His health began to suffer, 2009, having checked in rehab after becoming addicted to painkillers following a back surgery and having heart surgery in 2010.
He married Loni Anderson in 1988 who he divorced in 1993 after a widely publicized split and was married to actress Judy Carne from 1963-1966. He is survived by his son, Quinton.
