Sony Pictures has announced that they are developing a sequel, as well as spinoffs, to their upcoming animated film, "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse."
The film will feature a 13-year-old boy from Brooklyn named Miles Morales who becomes a Spider-Man. The family film will be rated PG and is set for release in time for the holidays.
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" is expected to earn between $25 million and $30 million when it opens, so the studio isn't wasting any time gearing up for the sequel and spinoffs.
Amy Pascal is set to produce with a likely partnership of Marvel Studios founder Avi Arad and "Spider-Verse" producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" is slated for a December 14 release.
