Sony has hired Dan Trachtenberg to direct the film after Shawn Levy left the project. The film has been in development since 2008 with various directors attached but now they are hoping for filming to begin sometime later this year.
The film will be a prequel to the storyline of the game, following the story of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter. Tom Holland will star in the lead role.
