The 2019 Oscars to Have No Host
This year, the Oscars will go on without a host. It has been thirty years since the last time the ceremony didn't have an MC.

Kevin Hart was originally set to host but after some old homophobic tweets of the comedian resurfaced on Twitter, he stepped down. Hart did apologize for the comments, saying,  "We thought it was OK to talk like that, because that's how we talked to one another ... This is wrong now."

The Academy has announced numerous presenters, including Whoopi Goldberg, Tessa Thompson, and Awkwafina, to fill the void of the host position.

It was in 1989 when the Oscars last went without a host when the producer, Allan Carr, decided that more presenters would be a better way to go.

This year's Academy Awards will air at 8 p.m. on February 24 on ABC.
