Whoopi Goldberg has joined the cast of the upcoming CBS All Access Series "The Stand". Goldberg made the announcement alongside author Stephen King this morning on "The View".

The series will be based on King's novel of the same name, in a post-apocalyptic version of the world destroyed by plague. Goldberg will be playing Mother Abigail, who along with a few others, must carry the burden of saving mankind.

Goldberg will be starring alongside Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Brad William Henke, Daniel Sunjata, James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, and Henry Zaga. 

"The Stand" will premiere in 2020.
