Movie Theatres to Be Part of Opening Up America Again

The world of cinema has definitely been hit hard due to the coronavirus pandemic but the White House's new guidelines on beginning to open communities back up specifically include theatres.

Before beginning the process of what is called "Opening Up America Again", states must have a certain percentage of containment of COVID-19. After that, certain guidelines will be put into place and a phasing-in period for businesses will begin.

The White House says it would like this begin on May 1 but there aren't any official timelines. Large venues, such as theatres, schools, and churches, would be part of "Phase 2" and would still require distancing protocols. Some theatres were already cutting occupancy levels to 50% before closures, a tactic that may be used again when things start opening up.

It will come down to each state and their needs as to when this process will begin.
