Nine hundred and twenty days; Twenty-two and eighty thousand hours; one million, three hundred twenty-four thousand and 800 minutes…that is how much time has passed since the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that killed seventeen people. For so many of us, life has moved on. For the students, families, and staff of Stoneman Douglas, life has changed forever. For some of the students from MDSHS, as well as, around the country, this event was a call to action. A call to campaign for gun control, to hopefully get those politicians who take campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association out of the office and to rally the eighteen to twenty-four-year-old demographic to come out and vote.
Award-winning director Kim A. Snyder (Newtown) followed the March for Our Lives Movement as they traveled the country to speak to individuals to get out and vote and to demand stronger gun control legislation. Her documentary, Us Kids, highlights the summer bus tour as well as the year-long activities these young people are putting together.
She has also partnered with March for our lives to screen Us, Kids, at Drive-In events in 10 cities across the United States beginning in Miami‘s Carpool Cinema Drive-In Wynwood, 2418 N. Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33127 on August 25th at 7 pm. For more information and tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/us-kids-miami-drive-in-screening-carpool-cinema-wynwood-tickets-117579374073
