Godzilla Vs. Kong's Adam Wingard to Direct Face/Off Sequel

It's been announced that Adam Wingard (Godzilla Vs. Kong) will be writing a sequel to "Face/Off" for Paramount Pictures.

The original film was released in 1997 and starred John Travolta as an FBI agent and Nicolas Cage as a terrorist. Travolta's character has his face swapped with Cage's in order to bring the criminal (who also murdered his son) down.

The film will be co-written by Simon Barrett and will be a direct sequel, though it isn't known if the Travolta and Cage would return to reprise their roles. At first, it was being reported that this would be a remake but Wingard took to social media to clear things up.

"I would NEVER re-imagine or remake FACE/OFF. It's a perfect action movie. Simon Barrett and I are writing a direct SEQUEL! :) :)" said the director.
