Comedian Gilbert Gottfried Dies at 67

Longtime comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried has died. He was 67.

His family released a statement saying, "We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert's honor."

Gilbert's career began in the 1970s. He was a cast member for Saturday Night Live, as well as guest starring on tv shows including "The Cosby Show". His most popular film is "Aladdin", the Disney animated classic. He voiced the character of Iago. Other roles include the "Problem Child" franchise, "The Aristocrats", "Beverly Hills Cop II" and numerous others. He also famously voiced the Aflac duck in the early 2000's.

His rep, Glenn Schwartz, said that Gilbert died from a heart abnormality called Ventricular Tachycardia due to Myotonic Dystrophy type II.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Dara, and his two children, Lily and Max.
