Isabela Merced to Star in Upcoming "Alien" Film Alongside Cailee Spaeny

Isabela Merced, who played Juliet in the "Romeo & Juliet" spin-off "Rosaline", has been cast in the upcoming "Alien" film. She will star alongside Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy).

The film will hail from 20th Century and Ridley Scott's Scott Free banner.

Isabela Merced began her acting career at a young age and gained recognition for her role as CJ Martin in the Nickelodeon series "100 Things to Do Before High School." She has also starred in several films, including "Transformers: The Last Knight," "Dora and the Lost City of Gold," and "Instant Family." Merced is also a singer and has released several singles and an EP. She is set to star in "Sweet Girl," an action thriller film for Netflix, in which she will play the daughter of Jason Momoa's character. She is also attached to star in "The Valet," a comedy film for Lionsgate, and "Spirited," a musical adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" for Apple TV+.

Merced's talents extend beyond acting and singing. She is also fluent in Spanish and has been involved in various philanthropic efforts, including supporting UNICEF and raising awareness for mental health issues.

The Alien film franchise is a science-fiction horror series that began with the 1979 film "Alien," directed by Ridley Scott. It has since expanded to include sequels, prequels, comics, video games, and more.

The original "Alien" film follows the crew of a commercial spaceship who encounter an alien creature that begins to hunt and kill them. The film was praised for its atmospheric tension and groundbreaking special effects, and it has since become a classic of the horror and sci-fi genres.

The franchise continued with the release of "Aliens" in 1986, directed by James Cameron. This film took a more action-oriented approach and introduced the character of Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, as a fierce and determined protagonist. Several more sequels followed, including "Alien 3" and "Alien: Resurrection."

In 2012, Ridley Scott returned to the franchise with "Prometheus," a prequel set before the events of the original "Alien" film. The film explored the origins of the alien creatures and the mysterious "Engineers" who created them. A sequel, "Alien: Covenant," followed in 2017.
