Comic-Con has been a fan, and studio favorite for years, but now we see a change with this year's event.
The convention is set to begin July 20, and several studios have backed out of their famous panels due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. These studios include Disney and its subsidiaries Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, and Netflix.
Those studios that are still on the schedule for making an appearance at Comic-Con include Warner Bros. and their streaming service Max, Paramount Pictures (but no commitment from Paramount+), and Amazon. Apple hasn't announced whether or not they will be attending.
Comic-Con spokesperson David Glanzer commented about the situation, saying, "With regard to the strike and its possible effects on Comic-Con, we tend to refrain from speculation or forecasting. I will say, our hope is for a speedy resolution that will prove beneficial to all parties and allow everyone to continue the work they love. Until then, we continue to diligently work on our summer event in the hopes of making it as fun, educational, and celebratory as in years past."
San Diego Comic-Con will take place from July 20-23 at San Diego Convention Center.
