Jackie Joseph, Kathryn Swink, and Alan Rosenberg to Receive 2023 Ralph Morgan Award: Celebrating Outstanding Contributions and Commitment in the Enter

It has been announced that SAG-AFTRA members Jackie Joseph and Kathryn "Kitty" Swink, and former SAG President Alan Rosenberg have been selected as the recipients of the 2023 Ralph Morgan Award, the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local's highest honor.

Jackie Joseph received her award on July 11, while Rosenberg and Swink will receive their awards later this year.

Joseph embarked on her remarkable career in 1958, showcasing her talents as a featured performer and singer in the Billy Barnes Revue. Her exceptional performances in renowned productions such as The Little Shop of Horrors, The Doris Day Show, and Gremlins have earned her widespread recognition and acclaim.

Beyond her contributions to the entertainment industry, Joseph is a passionate advocate for animal welfare. She stands as a founding member of Actors and Others for Animals, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring the well-being and compassionate care of pet companions.

Joseph's commitment to serving fellow actors and industry professionals is evident through her involvement in various union boards and committees. Prior to the merger of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), she served on the AFTRA National and Local boards as well as the SAG National Board. After the merger, she continued her active participation in SAG-AFTRA, contributing to committees such as the National Diversity Advisory, Elections, National Women's, and TV/Theatrical Animation Negotiating committees, among others.

Rosenberg, esteemed for his outstanding work in productions like The Wanderers, The Last Temptation of Christ, and Miracle Mile, has left an indelible mark on the film and television industry. His contributions extend beyond his artistic endeavors, as he has been actively involved in supporting causes such as the fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and raising funds and awareness for breast cancer.

Swink, recognized for her notable performances in Star Trek, Riley Parra, and JAG, has dedicated herself not only to her craft but also to making a positive impact on society. Her involvement in the Screen Actors Guild Executive Board and the Pension & Health Board of Trustees showcases her commitment to the welfare and rights of her fellow actors. Swink has additionally lent her time and expertise to several SAG-AFTRA committees, including the TV/Theatrical Contract Negotiating, National Disciplinary Review, and National Women's committees.

As a 19-year survivor of pancreatic cancer, Swink's personal journey has inspired her to contribute to the cause. She actively raises funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a nonprofit organization striving to find a cure and eliminate this devastating disease.

The Ralph Morgan Award, established in 1981, stands as a testament to the dedication and service of SAG-AFTRA members and union staff. Named in honor of the first president of the Screen Actors Guild, Ralph Morgan, this prestigious accolade recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving their fellow members. Morgan's own contributions to the union were profound, having served three terms as SAG president during pivotal moments in the organization's history. Upon the conclusion of his final term, the SAG Board bestowed upon him a scroll encapsulating his legacy: "Devotion to the cause of actors, courage to fight for the right, sacrifice of self for others have made the name of Ralph Morgan a symbol of loyalty."

The careers and philanthropic endeavors of Joseph, Rosenberg, and Swink exemplify the extraordinary dedication and passion found within the entertainment industry. Through their artistic contributions and unwavering commitment to service, they have left an indelible mark on both their profession and society as a whole.
