Kang the Conquerer has had a short-lived career in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it was announced late Monday afternoon that Disney had fired actor Jonathan Majors after he was found guilty of reckless assault and harassment.

The Character, also known as He Who Remains, was first introduced in Season One of Loki on Disney+ in 2021 and appeared again this year in Loki Season Two and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.  Disney and Marvel, who had planned to use Kang throughout Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU, must now rethink many of their upcoming releases including possibly scrapping 2026's Avengers: Kang Dynasty. It is yet to be determined if the character will be recast with another actor.

The MCU has recast a role before dropping Terence Howard from the Iron Man series and replacing him with Don Cheadle with limited adverse effects.  However, Majors has a much more significant role than Howard did in the MCU.

Besides Disney/MCU,  Majors was cast in Creed III with the idea of continuing that franchise as well.  At this time there has been no announcement whether or not Majors will remain a part of the Creed series as well.

After his arrest in March for a domestic disturbance, he was fired by both his manager, 360 Entertainment, and publicist, The Lede Company.  However, WME continues to represent Majors, and his long-time agent, Elan Ruspoli, testified briefly in Majors' defense last week as the last witness in the nearly two-week trial.

He was also let go in March from several other projects including an ad campaign for the Texas Rangers MLB team, Protagonist Pictures‘ feature adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel, The Man in My Basement, and the unannounced Fifth Season Otis Redding biopic.
