The second season of "Ahsoka" is currently in development, as confirmed by Lucasfilm, with creator Dave Filoni at the helm. This announcement coincided with the revelation of the new "Star Wars" film titled "The Mandalorian & Grogu," directed by Jon Favreau, unveiled on Tuesday morning.

"The Mandalorian & Grogu" will lead Lucasfilm's ongoing feature development slate, which includes films directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni. Filoni is simultaneously working on the development of "Ahsoka" Season 2, among other projects mentioned in the announcement.

"Ahsoka," whose Season 1 finale aired on Oct. 3, featured Rosario Dawson as the beloved Jedi, Ahsoka Tano. The narrative follows her efforts to save the galaxy from the emerging threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn following the fall of the Galactic Empire. Dawson initially portrayed Ahsoka Tano in live-action during "The Mandalorian" Season 2 and also appeared in "The Book of Boba Fett."

In addition to Dawson, Season 1 of "Ahsoka" starred Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as New Republic general Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger. The series marked the live-action debuts of Sabine, Hera, Thrawn, and Ezra, all prominent characters from the animated "Star Wars Rebels" TV series. Hayden Christensen reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka's former Jedi master. Other Season 1 cast members included Ivanna Sakhno, Diana Lee Inosanto, and David Tennant.

Created by Dave Filoni, who has also contributed to "The Mandalorian," "The Book of Boba Fett," and "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," "Ahsoka" is executive produced by Filoni, Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. The series features directors such as Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Upcoming "Star Wars" series on Disney+ include "The Acolyte" and the second season of "Andor." Filoni is also directing a feature film expected to conclude the storylines from his TV series.
