It's been announced that Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have secured "Rogue One" director Gareth Edwards to take the helm of the upcoming "Jurassic World" movie, set to be released on July 2, 2025. This announcement comes after initial talks with director David Leitch fell through.

Edwards, known for his success with "Godzilla" and the "Star Wars" standalone film "Rogue One", spent the past week impressing key executives, including producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall. Following their approval, an offer swiftly followed, and pending final negotiations, Edwards is expected to dive into pre-production.

This latest installment in the "Jurassic World" franchise will bring a completely fresh perspective to the prehistoric era, deviating from previous storylines. Notably, familiar faces such as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with original trilogy actors Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill, will not be reprising their roles. The script for the film has been penned by David Koepp, known for his work on "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park".

With the worldwide success of the franchise, amassing over $6 billion since its inception in 1993, anticipation is high for Edwards to breathe new life into the "Jurassic World" universe.

As the film gears up for production, fans and film enthusiasts alike eagerly await more details about this highly anticipated addition to the "Jurassic World" saga.
