It's been announced that Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson are set to reprise their roles in "The Accountant 2," the sequel to the successful action thriller directed by Gavin O'Connor. Amazon MGM Studios, in collaboration with Affleck and Matt Damon's Artists Equity, is producing the film. O'Connor, the original film's director, is also returning, working from a script penned by Bill Dubuque, the screenwriter of the first installment.

The first "Accountant" film, released in 2016, grossed $155 million worldwide and became the most-rented digital film the following year. The story revolves around Affleck's character, a highly skilled CPA with autism leading a double life as a forensic accountant for criminal organizations. The sequel's plot is set in motion when Cynthia Addai-Robinson's character, Marybeth Medina, contacts Affleck's character to solve her former boss's murder, leading to a dangerous and intricate investigation.

The partnership between Artists Equity and Amazon MGM has proven fruitful, with "The Accountant 2" marking their fourth collaboration. Previous projects include the chart-topping Jennifer Lopez documentary "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," the Golden Globe-nominated sports marketing drama "Air," and the upcoming film "Unstoppable," based on the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles.

The cast includes Jon Bernthal as Affleck's brother, J.K. Simmons as the Director of the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson as an ambitious Treasury agent. The trio faces ruthless killers as they uncover a complex conspiracy.

Other producers for the film include Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams from 51 Entertainment. Executive producers include Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe, Alison Winter, Scott Lastaiti, and Jamie Patricof.
