I Know What You Did Last Summer" Reboot Set for 2025 Release with Star-Studded Cast

Sony Pictures is set to breathe new life into the 1997 horror classic "I Know What You Did Last Summer" with a highly anticipated reboot slated for theatrical release on July 18, 2025. The cast in talks for the redux includes an exciting lineup of young talent: Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King. The original film, which followed four young friends bound by a tragic accident and stalked by a hook-wielding maniac, became a cult classic, grossing over $125 million worldwide and spawning a successful sequel. In a nod to the original, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt are in discussions to reprise their iconic roles.

The reboot will be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for her work on "Do Revenge," with a screenplay penned by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson, building on a draft by Leah McKendrick. Producing the film is Neal Moritz, a familiar name in the horror genre. This modern take aims to capture the essence of the original while introducing new elements to captivate today's audience. The film promises to blend nostalgia with fresh perspectives, ensuring a thrilling experience for both new viewers and long-time fans.

The star-studded cast brings together some of the brightest talents in the industry. Camila Mendes, celebrated for her role in "Riverdale," has recently starred in romantic comedies like "Upgraded" and "Música." Madelyn Cline, famous for her portrayal of Sarah Cameron on Netflix's "Outer Banks," has also appeared in "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" and "Boy Erased." Jonah Hauer-King, who recently played Prince Eric in Disney's live-action "The Little Mermaid," adds his charisma to the ensemble. Tyriq Withers, known for his roles in FX's "Atlanta" and Hulu's "Tell Me Lies," along with Sarah Pidgeon, currently making waves on Broadway in "Stereophonic," complete the promising cast. Together, they are set to deliver a memorable and spine-chilling performance in this reboot of a beloved horror classic.
