Mia Goth is officially joining the "Star Wars" universe. Known for her genre-defining work in "Pearl" and the "X" trilogy, the actress has signed on to star opposite Ryan Gosling in Shawn Levy's "Star Wars: Starfighter".

There are no details available on Goth's role.

"Starfighter" is being positioned as a bold standalone adventure that expands the ever-growing Star Wars mythos. According to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni, who officially announced the project during the Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo this past April, the film will take place approximately five years after the events of "The Rise of Skywalker". It introduces a fresh ensemble of characters in a post-Skywalker galaxy still finding its balance after the fall of the First Order.

The script comes from Jonathan Tropper, a longtime collaborator of Levy's, having penned "The Adam Project" and "This Is Where I Leave You". Tropper is also the creator of the Apple TV+ series "Your Friends & Neighbors".

For Levy, "Starfighter" marks his first foray into the Star Wars galaxy, and his next big directorial effort following the colossal success of "Deadpool & Wolverine". That film, released in July 2024, shattered records to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, earning $1.3 billion globally.

"Star Wars: Starfighter" is set to begin production in Fall 2025 and debuts in theaters on May 28, 2027.
