It is being reported that Dave Bautista has been offered a role in "Road House 2", the upcoming sequel to Amazon MGM Studios' hit 2024 reboot.

While representatives for both Bautista and Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment on the casting buzz, insiders say discussions are underway and Bautista is seriously considering joining the project. He would be joining Jake Gyllenhaal, who reprises his role as Dalton, a former UFC fighter turned reluctant barroom hero.

The sequel will be directed by "The Gentlemen" and "Sherlock Holmes" filmmaker Guy Ritchie, stepping in for original reboot director Doug Liman.

The 2024 "Road House" reboot reimagined the beloved 1989 cult classic starring Patrick Swayze. Set in the sun-soaked Florida Keys, the modern version followed Dalton (Gyllenhaal) as he took a job as a bouncer at a rowdy bar, only to find himself caught in a violent power struggle involving outlaw bikers, corrupt developers, and a wildly unhinged villain played by real-life MMA superstar Conor McGregor in his acting debut.

Despite early controversy (director Doug Liman voiced strong objections to the studio's decision to release the film exclusively on Prime Video rather than in theaters), the reboot proved to be a monster hit for the streamer. Within its first eight weeks, "Road House" shattered internal records, drawing nearly 80 million viewers worldwide and earning the title of Amazon MGM's most-watched produced film debut, according to former studio head Jennifer Salke.

The sequel's screenplay is being penned by Will Beall, best known for his work on "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" and "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F". Producing the film are Charles Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment, along with Jake Gyllenhaal through his Nine Stories Productions banner alongside Josh McLaughlin. Ivan Atkinson is also on board as executive producer.

Bautista has a packed slate ahead. He'll soon appear in the action thriller "The Trap House" from Aura Entertainment, and is teaming up with Jason Momoa for the Amazon MGM buddy comedy "Wrecking Crew". He's also currently filming "Alpha Gang", a quirky alien invasion comedy from the Zellner Brothers, co-starring Cate Blanchett.
