Paramount+ has officially renewed "MobLand" for a second season. The news was confirmed via a short announcement video and arrived just three weeks after the show's inaugural season concluded its run on the streaming service.
Headlined by Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren, "MobLand" premiered March 30 in English-speaking territories, with the show later launching on May 30 across non-English markets. The premiere episode alone has drawn over 26 million views in its first 70 days across key territories, according to Paramount's internal streaming data. These numbers cement "MobLand" as the second-largest launch of an original series for the streamer, trailing only "Landman" in global first-90-day performance. Since the release of its third episode, "MobLand" has consistently appeared in Nielsen's Top 10 list of Streaming Originals for five consecutive weeks, an indicator of sustained interest and engagement.
"With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph - driven by the creative brilliance of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser, and brought to life by the powerhouse performances of Tom, Pierce, and Helen. We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the UK," said Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment.
The gritty crime saga follows two rival mob families locked in a brutal power struggle that threatens to destroy their empires, and everyone caught in the crossfire. In addition to Hardy, Brosnan, and Mirren, the ensemble cast features Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan, and Emily Barber.
Behind the scenes, "MobLand" brings together a formidable creative team. Executive producers include Guy Ritchie, Ronan Bennett, Jez Butterworth, David C. Glasser, Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, Ivan Atkinson, Kris Thykier, Hardy himself, Dean Baker, Anthony Byrne, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari.
David Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, said, "MobLand was one of those incredible moments where Chris McCarthy came to us with the vision of creating the next great mob series and, after traversing the UK countryside in a quest to land Guy Ritchie, we both came to the realization that we knew the exact formula. With the extraordinary talent of Guy, Ronan, Jez and our incredible cast, we brought that vision to life."
For screenwriter Jez Butterworth, "MobLand" marks his second major television success with Paramount+, following "The Agency" on the streamer's Showtime integration.
"TV was a brand new world for me and I was reluctant to commit to a TV overall, but Chris, David, and the teams at Paramount and 101 Studios completely changed my perspective with their bold creative vision and razor-sharp strategic insight," Butterworth said. "Collaborating with Chris, David, Guy and our stellar cast has been nothing short of inspiring and I'm excited to dive into the second season of MobLand."
MobLand is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios in association with Paramount+, and it is distributed globally by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
