While Happy might have a special card that gives him Subway for life, everyone else appreciates a special deal at the popular restaurant. For anyone ready to take a trip to that “Happy Place,” it is time to order Subway’s Happy Gilmore Meal.
Almost 30 years ago, people who did not know a birdie from a bogey became obsessed with a movie about golf. Happy Gilmore might have brought some unorthodox golfing concepts to the links, but people fell in love with the story. With Happy Gilmore 2 heading to Netflix, it is time for everyone to go home and stream the iconic character’s next round.
As Happy Gilmore fans know, Subway played a role in the first movie. Now, the brand is back to offer everyone a taste of that “Happy Place.” Starting on July 10, guests can order a combo or Meal of the Day and turn it into a Happy Gilmore Meal for $1 more. In addition, each meal is served with one of four limited-edition collectible cups.
According to Cristina Wells, Senior Vice President of U.S. Marketing, “Alongside a generation of fans, Subway can’t wait to see our old friend Happy Gilmore recapture the magic that made him such an enduring cultural icon in Happy Gilmore 2. We’re excited to partner with Netflix and give fans more of what makes them happy – more ways to enjoy their favorite subs and more ways to engage with a world that we cherish as much as they do – with a one-of-a-kind, connected experience exclusively at Subway.”
While some people might have preferred a specialty sub flavor or other nod to Happy Gilmore’s preferred order, the Meal of the Day or combo meal allows guests to have their preference while still receiving a specialty Happy Gilmore collectible cup. In a way, it is a big win for fans.
Mickey Duzyj created the four limited-edition collectible cups. The renowned sports illustrator, animator, and director captured the four characters in ways that movie fans will appreciate.
The cups are: Happy Gilmore: the legendary golfer himself, Shooter McGavin: Happy’s PGA tour rival and nemesis, Hal L: the former Silver Acres orderly, and Oscar: Happy’s new caddie in Happy Gilmore 2. Everyone probably expected Happy and Shooter, but the other two choices are more curious. Oscar’s inclusion might be the most controversial. While a Happy Gilmore 2 character builds excitement for the new film, some people might have wanted a Chubby or other nod to the first movie.
Lastly, each specialty meal includes a QR code, which gives people access to Subway’s Happy Place. This virtual dream world is an immersive digital experience. Additionally, the website offers giveaways.
Subway’s Happy Gilmore Meal is available starting on July 10, 2025. Check with local restaurants for availability and pricing. The limited-edition cups are available while supplies last.
