This season of MasterChef Dynamic Duos has challenged the chefs and put their communication skills to the test. In this week’s episode, a brand-new challenge awaits the pairs. As Gordon Ramsay urges in this exclusive clip, the clues better give the right direction.
Every season, MasterChef wants to keep both the participants and fans engaged. This season saw Tiffany Derry join as a new judge, and the format completely changed. Competing as pairs has both its advantages and disadvantages. In this episode, that ability to work well with a partner will be challenged.
According to FOX, “Recipe Telephone” requires the duos to split up. One chef begins the dish, and the other chef sits sequestered in another room. Halfway through the challenge, they swap places.
FOX provided this exclusive clip from tonight’s MasterChef “Recipe Telephone” episode to FlickDirect. Will this pair get on the right track?

Some of this season’s duos really need each other to do well. Tonna and Cait, the mother/daughter team, are one. Based on Tonna’s comments, her daughter is a calming presence at their station. Tonna seems quite scattered in these first few minutes of cooking.
While Tonna answers Gordon’s questions, she is not off to a good start. Mistaking white radish for parsnip is a huge issue. Luckily, the error was caught early. No one wants to eat white radish puree. Still, that mistake set Tonna back in this challenge.
The key to any MasterChef challenge is staying calm under pressure. Everyone earned their spot because they know how to execute a good dish.
Gordon’s advice is key to doing well in this challenge. Yes, all the teams can cook, but this episode challenges teamwork and intuition. The first chef needs to leave clues to the dish. No one can spell out the recipe in carefully minced garlic on the cutting board. There needs to be elements on the station that imply how to cook the steak, finish the sauce, and create the correct puree for the final product.
The judges, Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derry, and Joe Bastianich will be looking to see how the duos worked together, even though they were not cooking side by side. Just like a strong restaurant team, smart chefs can read between the lines and see the final dish on the plate. Good execution is a given. These chefs need to prove their teamwork in this challenge.
Can Tonna recover from her early mistakes? Absolutely, she can. The key to any MasterChef challenge is staying calm under pressure. Everyone earned their spot because they know how to execute a good dish. This scenario is far different from the home kitchen, but the skills are the same.
