With only four duos remaining in the competition, MasterChef Dynamic Duos takes on another classic challenge. In this episode, the two cooks must keep up with Gordon Ramsay as he prepares an elevated duck dish. Will a new twist cause the teams to fall behind in this cooking masterclass?
This MasterChef season has brought new twists on classic challenges. Since the participants are pairs, every decision, action, and cook has another layer. Being able to communicate and rely on a partner is vital to earning the judges’ praises.
Every MasterChef season has the cooks try to follow Gordon Ramsay as he prepares a signature dish. While the celebrated chef makes quick work of delicate proteins and sophisticated recipes, home cooks can feel a little intimidated. They might know how to complete a similar dish when the pressure is off, but the limited time and quick work can make them fall behind.
FOX provided an exclusive clip from tonight’s MasterChef Dynamic Duos episode to FlickDirect. As it shows, keeping up with Gordon is harder than it looks.
Previously on the MasterChef Dynamic Duos season, duck was one team’s downfall. This recipe is more than a perfectly seared and rested duck. In order to earn the judges’ praise, the teams need to pick up on every little nuance. The dish is incomplete if the sauces and garnishes are not plated with precision.
Even though the duos have 30 seconds to finish a dish after Gordon completes his, those mere seconds are fleeting. If the teams did not stay on task from searing that duck breast, it does not matter if the drizzle is placed correctly on the plate.
Since this particular MasterChef challenge had the new twist of being a tag team concept, it is important for the duos to communicate well. There cannot be overtalking, distractions, or other added confusion to an already highly pressure-filled scenario. The teams that can stay calm and focus will be on the path to success.
“The duos only get 30 seconds after Gordon finishes plating, making communication and precision the deciding factors in this high-pressure challenge.”
Looking at the four pairs remaining in the competition, two teams have emerged as front-runners. Jesse and Jessica, as well as Zach and Michelle, work well together. Although both teams have had their struggles, those pairs were the top cooks in the previous challenge. If these couples can continue to communicate well, they should be set up for success.
Unfortunately, Rachel and Julio have struggled under the pressure. While both cooks can execute a dish, they can take different approaches to seasoning. It can leave a dish disjointed, which is a big error in this type of tag team challenge.
Lastly, Tina and Aivan can struggle with communication. If this pair cannot find a way to find common ground in their approach to simple techniques, they might be on the brink of elimination.
