In 2016, Ruth Warburton (writing under the pseudonym Ruth Ware) published a mystery novel called The Woman in Cabin 10, and this month, Netflix is offering audiences the film adaptation of this best-selling novel. Starring Keira Knightley (Pride and Prejudice), the film begins when investigative journalist, Laura “Lo” Blacklock (Knightley) takes an assignment on a luxury super yacht called Aurora Borealis. Once on board, she slips into cabin 10 to avoid running into her ex-boyfriend, only to discover a tall blonde woman in the cabin. However, later that night, Lo discovers no one was booked into cabin 10, and the mysterious woman seems to be missing.

In honor of the film’s debut on Netflix, the streaming service invited some guests to tour a “curious” yacht sailing off the coast of Miami, Florida. We initially boarded a smaller vessel that brought us out to the Aurora Borealis. Once on board, we were treated to drinks and snacks before taking a tour of the boat. Then we were free to explore the various spaces, some of which were decked out (pun intended) with Easter eggs from the film. The movie itself was also playing on one of the televisions on board.

Next, after some brief instructions, we were filmed with a drone camera that began with a close-up shot and gradually zoomed out to show us on board the ship. Our “director,” Rory, was great and energetic and obviously loved his job! He made it fun for everyone and, as you can see, the finished product is very cool.

After taking lots of videos and photos, we were offered another snack of shrimp tempura skewers and short rib dumplings, which were absolutely delicious! Finally, we went to the top deck for a champagne toast and stunning views of Miami. We transferred once again to the smaller boat, with gift baskets in hand, and toured the waterways of Miami before docking back where we started.

All I can say is the activation was amazing and awesome, and a lot of time was spent on even the most minute details. We were shocked with each new thing we experienced and got really hyped up to watch The Woman in Cabin 10 and talk about it to everyone we know (review to follow later this week).

Netflix is known for quality entertainment and for putting 110% into everything they create. It is true for the movie, The Woman in Cabin 10, as well as the adventure they took us on to promote the film. As you can see from our experience, it was great fun in beautiful, sunny South Florida, and while the movie is a mystery thriller, you will still find it as enjoyable and entertaining as we found our day at sea sponsored by Netflix.

The Woman in Cabin 10 is streaming now, so be sure to check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
