Netflix is giving the hit animated fantasy "KPop Demon Hunters", about a K-pop girl group who uses their music to battle supernatural forces, a theatrical encore with special Halloween-themed sing-along screenings. The limited engagement will run Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 across the three biggest U.S. theater chains - AMC, Regal, and Cinemark - along with select independent venues. Fans are encouraged to come in costume, according to Netflix's announcement.

Originally debuting on Netflix earlier this summer, "KPop Demon Hunters" defied expectations when it first hit theaters in late August for a short two-day sing-along event, earning a surprising $18 million at the box office. It was unusual for Netflix to send one of its titles back to theaters after its streaming debut, but the experiment clearly paid off. Since its June release, the film has become the most-watched title in Netflix history, while its soundtrack has dominated the charts - with "Golden," "Your Idol," and "Soda Pop" all landing spots on the Billboard Hot 100.

Now, Netflix is doubling down on that momentum, and AMC Theatres is joining in. The theater chain had previously opted out of showing the film, but it will now screen "KPop Demon Hunters" at roughly 400 AMC locations across the U.S. and Europe.

"While the two companies have not had a commercial relationship in recent years, both Netflix and AMC are intrigued by the mutually beneficial opportunities that could arise from this and future collaboration. Discussions are underway as to what that may entail, but no further details are being shared at this time," an AMC Theatres spokesperson said in a statement.
