Production is officially underway on Season 2 of HBO's acclaimed original drama series "Dune: Prophecy". The eight-episode second season, led by showrunner Alison Schapker, is currently filming across multiple international locations, including Hungary, Jordan, and Spain. The renewal follows a successful debut season that earned four Emmy® nominations earlier this year.
Set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, "Dune: Prophecy" explores the origins of the powerful Bene Gesserit order. The story centers on two Harkonnen sisters who face growing threats to humanity's survival while laying the foundations for one of the most influential forces in the galaxy. Inspired by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's novel "Sisterhood of Dune", the series continues to expand Frank Herbert's legendary universe with a focus on politics, mysticism, and the enduring power of human ambition.
The second season welcomes several notable new cast members. Indira Varma, known for "The Night Manager" and "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One", joins the ensemble alongside Top Boy star Ashley Walters and "The White Lotus" actor Tom Hollander. Their roles remain under wraps, but their inclusion promises to add new intrigue and gravitas to the show's already rich ensemble.
Returning cast members include Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, and Chloe Lea, among others.
Behind the camera, the series maintains a powerhouse lineup of creative talent. Alison Schapker continues as showrunner and executive producer, joined by Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, Kevin Lau, Monica Owusu-Breen, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts. The Frank Herbert estate, represented by Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert, also returns as executive producers, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as co-producer.
