A high-stakes new thriller pairs Daisy Ridley with Taken director Pierre Morel.
Daisy Ridley, best known for her role as Rey in the Star Wars franchise, has signed on to star in the high-stakes action-thriller "The Good Samaritan", directed by Taken and Peppermint filmmaker Pierre Morel.
In the film, Ridley will star as successful entrepreneur Dr. Rosalind Carver, who, along with her husband, rescues a wounded man drifting off the coast of Indonesia, not knowing that they are venturing into a deadly situation. Within hours, their whole life is turned upside down, and they must learn who to trust to survive.
"What I love about Matt's writing is the raw realism of the characters and their intense predicament, elevated by the Hitchcockian, noirish collision of two damaged souls from opposite worlds," said Morel.
He added that Ridley was an especially compelling fit for the lead role. "Daisy exudes such palpable intelligence and poise under pressure; watching her navigate a foreign world where every element, nature, people, and even fate seems stacked against her will be thrilling. I'm excited about the cast coming together. It's going to be a lot of fun."
Production is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 in Brisbane, Australia, utilizing the Gold Coast's globally recognized production facilities.
The film is produced by Mark Canton (Den of Thieves) and Dorothy Canton (Arthur the King) of Canton Entertainment; Oakhurst Pictures (Canary Black); Renee Tab (Sound of Freedom) of Sentient Entertainment; and David Hopwood (Den of Thieves). Executive producers include Pierre Morel, Matthew Ian Cirulnick, Ryan Winterstern, and Highland Film Group's Delphine Perrier and Arianne Fraser, with Canton Entertainment's Karley Ferlic serving as Co-Producer.
Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser commented on the news, saying, "What a thrill to collaborate with a director of Pierre Morel's caliber who ranks among the world's top action directors. The prospect of working with Daisy Ridley on this high-stakes action thriller - where her character pushes past every limit - truly energizes us."
Producer Mark Canton also spoke about the collaboration, saying, "The stars have aligned and I am absolutely delighted to be working with action maven Pierre Morel and the brilliant Daisy Ridley on this complex and electrifying thriller. The Good Samaritan is such a smart and riveting story, and we cannot wait for cameras to roll on this fantastic project."
Ridley recently headlined the London-set action-thriller "Cleaner" opposite Clive Owen, directed by Martin Campbell, and appeared in Zak Hilditch's survival thriller "We Bury the Dead".
