The new trailer for Jimmy premiered during a hometown celebration honoring Jimmy Stewart’s life, military service, and cinematic legacy.

Burns & Co. Entertainment and Fathom Entertainment have officially unveiled the new trailer for Jimmy, the upcoming feature film chronicling the untold true story of legendary actor and war hero Jimmy Stewart. The highly anticipated film is scheduled to arrive exclusively in theaters on November 6, 2026.

The trailer debut coincided with a major hometown celebration in Indiana, Pennsylvania, where actor KJ Apa, who portrays Stewart in the film, joined director and producer Aaron Burns alongside Stewart’s daughter and executive producer Kelly Stewart-Harcourt for festivities honoring the Hollywood icon’s legacy.

“Hope and inspiration were at the heart of who Jimmy Stewart was, both on screen and in life.”

The celebration marked what would have been Stewart’s 118th birthday, officially recognized across Pennsylvania as “Jimmy Stewart Day,” an annual designation led by Pennsylvania State Representative Jim Struzzi. As part of the event, the Jimmy Stewart Museum partnered with Burns & Co. Entertainment to launch a new exhibit titled The Making of Jimmy, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the production through props, costumes, and photography from the set.

“Jimmy Stewart was a hero. His legacy of service to the United States, his global reach through his films, and his devotion to his family are unparalleled,” Apa said. “Taking on this role is an enormous responsibility, and our goal is to honor his legacy, service, and family through Jimmy and share his story to remind audiences that heroes such as Jimmy did and still do exist.”

Stewart-Harcourt reflected on both her father’s legacy and the emotional significance of celebrating his life in his hometown.

“This is the place that made him the man he became and the life he led,” Stewart-Harcourt said. “But we are not just celebrating what would have been Dad’s 118th birthday. This is also a premiere of the new trailer for the film Jimmy, as well as the opening of the new film-related exhibit at The Jimmy Stewart Museum.”

She also admitted her father probably would have been hesitant about both a museum and a feature film centered on his life but believed he ultimately would have appreciated the spirit behind both projects.

Pennsylvania State Representative Jim Struzzi praised the continued efforts to preserve Stewart’s legacy through both the museum and the upcoming feature film.

“I am extremely excited for the release of Jimmy and look forward to the special first look on Jimmy Stewart Day at The Jimmy Stewart Museum,” Struzzi said.

Jennifer Buckles, Executive Director of The Jimmy Stewart Museum, emphasized the importance of the collaboration behind the exhibit and the hometown connection surrounding the event.

Director Aaron Burns explained that the film aims to inspire audiences through Stewart’s values both on and off screen.

“Hope and inspiration were at the heart of who Jimmy Stewart was, both on screen and in life,” Burns said. “By debuting our film’s trailer in his hometown of Indiana, Pennsylvania, we hope to honor his legacy and inspire a new generation to live and love like Jimmy did.”

The celebration also featured a charitable initiative supporting veterans and military families. Papaian Studios and Commerce Casino presented Vet Tix with nearly $1 million to help active-duty military members, veterans, and their families attend screenings of Jimmy free of charge this November.

Another emotional moment during the event featured “Jimmy,” a service dog from Warrior Canine Connection, attending alongside veteran owner Darin Echerd. The nonprofit organization provides service dogs to veterans coping with the physical and mental wounds of war.

Jimmy tells the story of Stewart’s decision to prioritize military service and personal values over Hollywood fame. Alongside Apa, the ensemble cast includes Kara Killmer, Neal McDonough, Jason Alexander, Christopher McDonald, Sarah Drew, Rob Riggle, Julian Works, and Jen Lilley.

Tickets for Jimmy are expected to go on sale in September through Fathom Entertainment and participating theater box offices.
