The theater chain is shifting focus to movies as the 2026 summer box office continues to outperform expectations.
AMC Theatres has postponed its planned AMC Girls Night Live concert series as the company continues making room for a summer movie season that is performing better than expected.
Strong movie attendance is forcing AMC to make more room for films.
The event was scheduled to feature live simulcasts from Bebe Rexha, Paris Hilton, Kim Petras, and Maren Morris between June 17 and June 20. AMC announced that the concerts will now be moved to later in 2026, with all previously purchased tickets being refunded.
According to the company, the decision comes as theaters continue benefiting from a steady stream of successful releases and strong advance ticket sales.
“Week after week in 2026, the domestic box office performance has exceeded or met expectations,” AMC said in a statement. “With a robust lineup of films and strong advance ticket sales in the weeks ahead, AMC is making some programming adjustments during the month of June.”
AMC partnered with Arena One to launch the concert series as part of its growing alternative-content strategy, bringing live performances to movie screens nationwide. The original lineup featured Rexha on June 17, Hilton on June 18, Petras on June 19, and Morris on June 20.
Despite the postponement, AMC emphasized that the partnership remains active and that revised dates, along with additional artists, are expected to be announced later this year.
Recent releases, including Backrooms, Scary Movie, and Obsession, have outperformed expectations, helping push the summer box office more than 13 percent ahead of last year's pace.
AMC is also preparing for several major releases in the weeks ahead, including Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, which is expected to become one of the season’s biggest theatrical draws.
