FlickDirect readers in Miami and Tampa can see KLARA AND THE SUN before its October 23 theatrical release, with three free advance screenings beginning Sunday, October 18.
Jenna Ortega takes on an unusual role in KLARA AND THE SUN, playing an artificial companion whose understanding of friendship and family changes when she becomes part of a young girl's life. Sony Pictures, in conjunction with FlickDirect, is offering readers three opportunities to see the film early, beginning Sunday, October 18, at 2:00 PM at AMC Sunset Place in South Miami. Additional screenings take place Monday in Tampa and Tuesday in Aventura.
Based on the bestselling novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro, the film follows Klara (Ortega), an Artificial Friend who hopes to find a home. When she meets Josie (Mia Tharia), she becomes part of a family still dealing with loss and complicated relationships, including Josie's connection with her mother (Amy Adams).
Directed by Taika Waititi, whose previous films include Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok, the adaptation also stars Aran Murphy, Steve Buscemi, and Natasha Lyonne. Waititi and Dahvi Waller wrote the screenplay.
Sony Pictures will release KLARA AND THE SUN in theaters on October 23, 2026.
