Klara and the Sun (2026)

Klara is an exceptionally observant artificial intelligence designed to serve as an Artificial Friend, a companion created to provide comfort and emotional support to children. While waiting in a store for someone to choose her, Klara studies the world through the display window, developing a fascination with human behavior and the mysterious power of the Sun. Her life changes when Josie, a teenager struggling with a serious illness, selects her as a companion and brings her into a household shaped by love, uncertainty, and difficult choices.

As Klara grows closer to Josie and her family, she begins to recognize the complicated emotions, hidden fears, and sacrifices that define human relationships. Determined to protect the girl she has come to love, Klara places extraordinary faith in the Sun’s ability to restore Josie’s health, even as she confronts questions about what it means to care for another person. Directed by Taika Waititi and based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s acclaimed novel, Klara and the Sun explores artificial intelligence, mortality, devotion, and the fragile connections that make us human.
