The Men of Netflix's Gentefied

- Hi I'm Alison with FlickDirect and I'm here with the cast of Netflix's "Gentefied." (cast talking and laughing) They're having a good time already! - [Carlos] Well look at these guys! - They're having a good time already. Hi gentlemen, how are you? - We're doing great, how are you? - Very good, very good. - Well, clearly this guy couldn't shut up.

- Yeah, really! (laughing) So what first attracted you to this project? - Work. - Work, yeah. - [Alison] Always a good thing. - I'm not in a place where, no. I think Joaquin, I mean you should probably take that 'cause you've been working steadily. You guys have been working a lot, this is like my first late night series regular role so I'm just happy to-- - Congratulations.

- I'm just happy that this is such a special project that also happens to be my first and I feel like it's gonna be downhill from now on. - No man, it's gonna go even up. Listen, I'm gonna tell you like I said from the very beginning. I thought this was a hit from the moment I read it. Everything that's happening with it, call me Jesus 'cause I fucking, I called that shit, I called it from the beginning meaning I saw what was there.

- What was it about it though? - The story, the story, the story that's there. - [Alison] The family? - Yes, it's a family story and it's something, at least personally, that I related to, it resonated with me and that's what it was. That's what it was, I saw gold. - There's a lot of controversy that's discussed in this show. So did you have any concerns or what were those concerns?

- No, I'll say, did you have anything? - No, I didn't have any concerns because the people behind it put in the work and our job is not to have answers, it's to start a conversation, obviously. Because really deep down it's about a family trying to survive these circumstances and at the same time we're trying to show a snapshot of that community. So we're just trying to be as...

What is it? As neutral as possible because the most important thing is the human nature of the situation, (speaks Spanish). - Well in Spanish. - I'll also add into that. It's not our job to give you the answers, it's just to give perspective. It's not our job to do that. We're giving a perspective. What I love about this, if anything, is that it inspires conversation and what needs to happen in conversation is listening more than anything.

Everyone's so quick to wanna speak and to be heard and not as... What's the word I'm looking for? - Receptive. - Yeah, they don't wanna be as, that's the first thing we need to do is listen first. So hopefully it sparks conversation and people will be more willing and wanting to understand more than speak. - I hope so, 'cause I think it does spark a conversation, absolutely.

So I know we don't have a season two yet, but I'm really hoping for one 'cause-- - I believe it will happen. - Season two-- I think it will too because everything was in turmoil. I mean, Chris has a secret, you have a baby, Ana has a secret, and we're not even gonna talk about Pop right now. (laughing) - Still processing. - So if there is a season two, what are you hoping to continue with?

Do you think will happen? - As far as my character I would love to have that encounter with Chris's father. That's one of the things that I kept thinking about 'cause it's gonna happen. He's gonna be faced with having to deal with his father head on, for better or worse. And I think that's gonna be a huge catalyst for his character to change in whatever direction the creators decide.

But I'm looking forward to that, to the opportunity. - Yeah, I would piggy-back off that and say the same. There's daddy issues that could be delved into and he can find out what goes on exploring that relationship or lack thereof. Delving into what possibilities. We haven't talked about Eric's dreams. Does he have any? And if he doesn't, why not? Let's dive into why...
