Brothers Unveil New Horror Film Deliver Us at Popcorn Frights 2023

Hey, I'm Alison with FlickDirect and I am here at Popcorn Frights and we're talking to our writers about Deliver us. Hello Gentlemen, how are you? We're doing good. How you doing? I'm good What is the relationship because I didn't get that from any of the research I did. Oh, we're brothers. You are brothers Okay, I wasn't sure I just wanted to make sure it's certain Where did this idea come from?

It actually came from my father Really? We were in a brewery and he said he had an idea for a movie. Let that sink in. We were in a brewery. Okay. And he has pitched me a lot of ideas before. Some of them are amazing and some of them are not so. And I thought this was the best idea I'd ever heard. I said I can't believe it's never been done before.

There's tons of brother stories and all kinds of mythology. Yes. Absolutely. And when you were writing it, how did it evolve for you? How did it change? Did you have a background growing up religious that you fed from? - We spent most of our elementary school in uniforms at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School. - Okay. - My brother was my confirmation sponsor in the Catholic church.

So we've, you know, we, yes. (laughing) And again, how did this evolve over time? Because when you start with an idea, how did you just throw things against the wall, see what stuck, or did you really have a plan from the beginning? So we wrote a couple drafts and then we sent it to crew, collaborator, producer, he's also director on it, and he gave us his notes and we completely restructured it from the ground up.

And yeah, we just wrote it together over like Zoom basically. Oh, wow. Gotta love technology. In terms of where the story goes, do you think there could be a follow up? Like a sequel? That is the plan. Ah, right. Yeah, basically our first draft was the boys when they were 12 and so we realized that that could be its own story entirely Yes, it can And how much of you two are in that 12 year old boys story?

You know beat each other up when you were younger now I have two older brothers. They used to beat each other up all the time. What else are you collaborating on? Probably just the sequel and it's supposed to be three movies technically. So hopefully if this is successful then we can start writing those. Fantastic. And when Magnolia picked it up, what did that do for you guys as writers, as you as a co-director, as an actor in it?

you do everything. Yeah we just love Magnolia because they have such a good catalog. Yeah. And so we knew that when people saw that they'd be like okay it's it's it's good movie. All right well it is a good movie and I can't wait for everyone to see it. Thank you both very much. you (airplane engine roaring) Thank you.
