It has been reported that Russell Crowe will be making an appearance in the upcoming "Superman" film. He will be playing the role of Jor-El, Superman's biological father.

The role of Jor-El was portrayed by Marlon Brando in the 1978 film. He was 54 at the time, Crowe will be 47.

Other actors that were considered for the part were Sean Penn and Clive Owen.  

Crowe is joining the cast which already includes Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Michael Shannon.
