Marc Webb will return to helm the next film in the franchise for "The Amazing Spider-Man". The first film earned an incredible $751 million world wide, and the sequel is likely to be a success in Webb's capable hands again.
"We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker," said Doug Belgrad of Columbia Picture. "We can't wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide." He made the announcement along with production prexy Hannah Minghella.
The sequel will be written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, as well as Jeff Pinkner, based on a previous draft written by James Vanderbilt.
