The Purge Being Adapted for Television Series
The Purge, the successful horror movie franchise, will now be heading to the small screen.  Director James DeMonaco recently spoke about the news during an interview.

After being asked if fans would ever see Purge on TV, DeMonaco said, "Dude, it's so weird you bring that up. Yes! Not an anthology...I guess kind of an anthology -- more of an interwoven anthology. They came to me about a TV show, my idea is that you do six or seven storylines. And I would kind of intercut them, use flashbacks." He also said he would like to show to run 10 hours (10 1-hour episodes) and that the show would focus on "The Purgers" and their backstory.

"The idea of why I like the idea of a 10 hour TV thing on this, the one thing you really can't do on the films is get into the nuance and complexity that would drive someone to commit a terrible act on this night," said DeMonaco.

The show appears to be on the fast track according to DeMonaco. "We're talking about deals right now, money is being spoken about. Things like that. So I think it's being taken very seriously from the higher-ups who obviously dictate everything."

The Purge film franchise has earned over $300 million worldwide.
