Disney will be rebooting the popular late 80s-early 90s cartoon Ducktales for their Disney XD channel.
The original show, which consisted of 100 episodes, focused around the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his three nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, along with pilot Launchpad McQuack and inventor Gyro Gearloose.
Disney XD's Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Marc Buhaj, said, "DuckTales' has a special place in Disney's TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks' comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation."
It will be a tough act to follow, but let's hope the reboot can stand up to the original.
The show is slated for a 2017 premier.
